A Brief History of Merlin Tattoo & Piercing Studio

The Merlin tattooing legacy first came together in 1991 and was the brainchild of Nick and Tina Taylor and has been the leading studio in Dover ever since. The year 2000 was a black year. Nick Taylor, aged only 36, died in a motorcycle accident which left the studio and everyone who ever knew Nick utterly destroyed. With the continued support of our loyal customers, perseverance and a passion for what we do, Nick's legacy within Merlin's stands strong. Nick's one time apprentice, now an accomplished tattoo artists, Sean Sparks bought the business from Tina in 2006 and it has continued to thrive since.

We are also the home to a tattoo museum showcasing the original art work of the Prof. Cecil Rhodes, tattooist in Dover in the early 19th hundreds, and was one of about five in the whole of the UK at the time. You are welcome to come and view early tattoo designs, tattoo machines and needles.
